HALC seeks to increase the political influence of the Greek-American community by focusing on grass roots political action. Instead of concentrating our efforts in Washington D.C., HALC will seek to build support by:

Supporting candidates locally.
Help Greek-Americans get elected to office.
Lobby our United States Senators and Representatives to sponsor and support
legislation regarding Greece and Cyprus by approaching them in their home districts and as constituents.

Justice for Cyprus

HALC will be contacting members of the Illinois Congressional Delegation and urging them to sponsor The American-Owned Property in Occupied Cyprus Claims Act. The Act is bi-partisan legislation introduced by Congressman Frank Pallone in the House and Senators Olympia Snowe and Robert Menendez in the Senate and will enable U.S. citizens who own property in the Turkish occupied territory of the Republic of Cyprus to seek financial remedies with either the current inhabitants of their land or the Turkish government.
